Why a |
Pirate Party?
( . . . and How
Can I Help?) |
Dear Friends,
For more than 50 years, The Arc of New London County has provided opportunities for families of individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities to take an occasional break from the tremendous pressure of providing daily care. This care often amounts to a full time job for parents on top of having to work full time. |
Our Respite, Recreation, and Camp Harkness sessions are three important programs that we offer to enhance the other services The Arc provides. Unfortunately, these critical support programs are very costly to run and most often the first targets of governmental budget cuts. It is our goal to work even harder this year to continue offering our programs and to do so at rates families can afford. |
With fun in mind, the Board of Directors of The Arc is planning a 3rd annual Pirate Bash. Pirates will be assembling at the Mystic Arts Center on Saturday, April 24th from 7pm to 10pm, for a night of grog, wonderful food, entertainment, auction items, and a basket raffle. Our newest partner in caring, The Connecticut Sun, has generously agreed to supply collectible sports items for our Silent Auction. |
| To make this event a success, we are looking for your help to get the message out. Perhaps you know of a few pirates that could use a night out? They surely will love getting to meet the Connecticut Sun basketball players who have so generouly agreed to attend this year's party! Tickets are available for $50 in advance and $60 at the door. |
If you are unable to attend or purchase a ticket but would still like to contribute, we currently are accepting donations for the silent auction and basket raffle. If you would like to make a contribution, please contact us as soon as possible. We can arrange to pick up any donated items if necessary. Simply call Barbra Domijan at 860-889-4435, ext 116, or send an e-mail to bdomijan@thearcnlc.org. You can also contact Barbra to purchase tickets or buy them online (simply click the link at the top of this page.) We have a deadline of April 16th to get the information about any donations to the Board. |
| Below are PDFs of our flyers and forms for donations and ticket purchase to help you in spreading the word. Our Board committee is keeping track of all donations for proper allocation to the auction or baskets and to ensure proper thank you and recognition is given. We at the Arc are very excited and would love to have you become a partner in caring here in Southeastern Connecticut. |
Many thanks in advance for your consideration. Supporting empowerment opportunities for people with intellectual and related disabilities really does change lives in our community! |
